Who we are
Hike Jordan is a community platform where people share trip reports, photos, and tips about Jordan's outdoors. Members create profiles, post, follow each other, and comment. Contact: hello@hikejordan.jo
What data we collect
- Accounts: display name, username, email address, and optional profile details (bio, location, profile and cover photos).
- Content you post: posts, photos, comments, likes, and follows you create on the platform.
- Authentication: encrypted session cookies stored in your browser to keep you signed in.
- Server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps — retained for 30 days for security and debugging.
How we use your data
- To display your public profile and content to the community.
- To authenticate member and admin accounts.
- To moderate posts, comments, and profiles.
- To investigate security incidents or abuse.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties except as required by Jordanian law.
Cookies
We use a single authentication cookie (HikeJordan.Auth) that is set only when you sign in. It expires after 8 hours of inactivity. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
Data retention
Account and content data is retained while the account is active. Server logs are retained for 30 days. You may request deletion of your account by emailing us.
Your rights
Under applicable law you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Send requests to hello@hikejordan.jo. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies. We apply security headers on every response.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
